Friendships and musical ties that are born unpredictably and are woven through distance, allowed the fortuitous encounter of Tarabita Espiral. A trio made up of Colombian saxophonist and clarinetist Maria Valencia, Puerto Rican NY- based double bassist Brandon López and NY-based vibraphonist Matt Moran. These three vibrant artists eschew traditional roles to sculpt a musical landscape of restless motion and textural dissonance.

While maintaining her status as a television star, Dinah Shore made a series of classy albums for Capitol Records between 1959 and 1962. On this, the fourth of her five LPs for the label, she again teamed with André Previn, who had arranged and conducted her earlier album, Somebody Loves Me. This time, Previn took to the piano, joined only by an occasional rhythm section for another set of ballads (or, as the sleeve note put it, "songs in a mid-night mood").

Sebastian Rochford is a singular force in British music, an extraordinary drummer, composer, and producer. His work with the iconic group Polar Bear helped redefine the boundaries of jazz and earned multiple Mercury Prize nominations. With a career spanning collaborations with Patti Smith, Damon Albarn, Brian Eno, Adele and Grace Jones, and his 2023 ECM duo album A Short Diary with Kit Downes, an album written for his father described as a “ quiet masterpiece”, Rochford has carved out a unique space in contemporary music.

The third installment of Rendez-vous with Martha Argerich brings together captivating recordings from the international Festival Martha Argerich in Hamburg, showcasing an extraordinary lineup of soloists.

‘Ghost City’ was written over the course of two years, between the bands tours in Europe, Japan and Mexico, before heading to Northern Italy to record it. “We figured it was the same price to record in Italy, so we brought our friend and producer Mark Roberts along for the ride,” says Devin Yuceil (vocals/guitar), “we booked a bunch of shows on the way down which pretty much covered our recording costs, which also meant that we had around a week of playing the new material everyday leading to the studio, a luxury we don’t often have.”

This Trio recorded their first live album together at the Jamboree (Barcelona) on January 3rd-2025. This trio features some really strong names in jazz today, representing three different generations: Catalan drummer Jorge Rossy, born 1964 (Brad Mehldau Trio), Catalan bassist Camil Arcarazo, born 2003 (Bill McHenry, Gregory Hutchinson, etc.), and Swedish guitarist Gustav Lundgren, born 1980 (Chris Cheek & Doug Weiss). The music is a mix of standards arranged for the trio and one original.

Tankus is a British band based in London. Initially based around the songwriting of Jaz Delorean after forming as Tankus the Henge at the BRIT School, the band has developed a style of music which they term "gonzo rock 'n' roll", with influences from New Orleans jazz, psychedelic rock, 1970s funk and songwriters such as Tom Waits and The Band.

Originally appearing in raw live form on Instagram, "Cut To The Core Vol 1" is a polished collection of 90's hardcore (and adjacent) covers re-imagined for acoustic guitar by Cave In/Mutoid Man frontman Stephen Brodsky.

On his second album with KAIROS, Fixations, Andrew McIntosh presents music for scordatura strings in just intonation, recorded with longtime collaborators Wild Up, Christopher Rountree, Aperture Duo, and Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick—who, together with the composer himself, appears as soloist. The album, produced by Lewis Pesacov, offers a unique exploration of the nuanced social and spatial dimensions of rhythm and tuning. Featuring 434.6, Fixations, and Duo for viola and cello, with any number of violins, it also includes a printed conversation between McIntosh and Cassandra Miller inside the booklet, opening a window into a world of circular time, care, and musical generosity.

Johnny Hartman gained posthumous fame as one of the warmest ballad singers of this century, and his deep baritone voice is well showcased on this 1958 date, which emphasizes slower tempos with a couple of exceptions ("Sunday" and "After You've Gone"). Accompanied by a subtle orchestra arranged by Rudy Traylor (the personnel is unknown), Hartman is in such fine form that it seems sad that this obscure effort was his only studio date of the 1957-62 period. Highlights of the brief (33-minute) set include "To Each His Own," "Little Girl Blue" and "There's a Lull In My Life."
