2023 was a breakthrough year for EABS in many ways. It was all thanks to the well received, fully self-produced album entitled In Search of a Better Tomorrow, recorded in collaboration with the Pakistani band Jaubi. The record provided the opportunity to tour in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and China. It was praised by media outlets such as Le Monde, L'Echo, Politis, Stern, Bandcamp and Gazeta Wyborcza, while The Guardian included the release in its 'The Best Global Albums of 2023'. EABS' forthcoming sixth album is a return to their roots – literally and figuratively. It is an in-depth study on rhythm, which materialised in the form of the album titled Reflections of Purple Sun.

Astro Can Caravan are a "jazz / prog / abstract / free-skronk-noise collective/orchestra". Their albums will please listeners into jazz and avant-rock, and who like rhythmic and groovy textures, varied instrumentation and variety and richness of sound. Astro Can Caravan were formed in 2001 in Kuopio in Finland by Otto Eskelinen, Pharaoh Pirttikangas, Tomi Kosonen and Tuomas Eriksson. The band has gone through a lot of personnel changes ever since, with at least 35 people that have played in ACC in some line up or another.

Drummer, composer and producer Jake Long announces the release of his debut solo album City Swamp via New Soil on 17th May. Conceived as a soundtrack to a film that doesn't exist, City Swamp is a dystopian suite of meticulously reconstructed jazz improvisations from some of the UK's finest instrumentalists. Kamasi Washington releases his new album, Fearless Movement, via Young. Washington calls Fearless Movement his dance album. “It’s not literal,” Washington says. “Dance is movement and expression, and in a way it’s the same thing as music—expressing your spirit through your body. That’s what this album is pushing.” Dance as an embodied form of expression signals a shift in focus for Washington. Where previous albums dealt with cosmic ideas and existential concepts, Fearless Movement focuses in on the everyday, an exploration of life on earth. This change in scope is due in large part to the birth of Washington’s first child a few years ago.

The Swedish quartet Goran Kajfeš Tropiques share their new music We Jazz Records on May 3rd. Tell Us, an album consisting of three long pieces composed by the group, is "slow music" to the bone, a deep body of work utilising the language of jazz as its core mode of communication but echoing way beyond. The quartet is expanded with strings, adding wings to the music and helping it lift off the ground in a personal, highly engaging manner.

Oliver Herlitzka is a guitarist with jazz and rock influences who has been active in the North German jazz scene for many years. His quintet is characterised by its energetic interplay and rousing live performances. "Between Edges" is the latest album, which impressively demonstrates the versatility and skills of the ensemble. The compositions take the listener on a journey that ranges from sensitive melodies to pulsating rhythms, always carried by the ensemble's unmistakable sound.

Ten-member groove orchestra JT Conception releases "How Far Can You Go". The ensemble led by Trump will join forces with the young Danish harmonica virtuoso and composer Mathias Heise. With his intricate technique, Heise is one of the most playful artists on the world jazz scene today.
